Welcome to the Junior section of GGC.
Our aim is to promote a safe and enjoyable environment where boys and girls may be introduced to the game of golf and to provide them with a friendly environment in which they are encouraged to improve and developing their skills.
These are exciting times and we have already seen an increase in membership of 50% in the current season alone.
The club is actively working towards obtaining GOLFMARK accreditation. This is a national scheme which officially identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities. Our aim is to gain accredited by early next year at which time we will seek to develop closer relationships with the local schools.
It is significant that at the on Presidents weekend two members who have graduated from the junior section achieved remarkable success. Martin Wright had the best score of the weekend of 132 and Matt Bonner who scored 65 on the Saturday, but was unable to play on the Sunday. Both these young men have been with us from a very early age and are an example of our ongoing commitment to the junior section.

Junior Coaching has gone from strength to strength. With the popular coaching sessions that take place on Saturday afternoons at 3:00pm held by our Head P.G.A Golf Professional - Tom Bolton, this has given many juniors a chance to understand the various techniques needed when playing golf and also an opportunity to meet other junior members within the golf club. We understand that a Golf Club can be an intimidating place for anyone new to golf and we want to encourage friendship within the Junior Section.
Junior Competitions are held most Sunday mornings at 11:00am, subject to prior Gatley Golf Club events. These competitions are available to any junior member, with or without a handicap. Please call the Pro Shop for more details.
