Here we are for the last offical event in the clubs playing calender, Captain -v- President, played in the highest of good sprits, with just a touch of rivalry to add an edge. This event as tradition dctates is followed by the Hot Pot Supper and presentation, which was very well supported. There were some big wins and close wins with only one of the 15 matches finishing All Square, the final result being Captains team 10½ President team 4½. Both the President and I enjoyed the days competition, our thanks to our playing partners the Pro Tom Bolton and Vice Captain Chris Wood, plus thankyou to all players for their support and playing the matches in the usual good spirit.
The evening was, as the start of the playing season, preceeded by the Hot Pot and Apple pie supper, ably cooked and served by Emma and her band of helpers, many second and third helpings were seen to be served to those with the larger capacity. This was followed by the presentation of the Club's Major Competition Trophies, which were:-
Mixed Four-somes Trophy: Winners - Graham Stubbs & Denzell Hunt -- Runners up - John & Wendy Woolley
Winston Churchill Trophy (Doubles) : Winners - Kieth Bramhall & Mark Hoyland -- Runners up - John Hardman & Chris Whitehead
